Protip: get drunk before seeing Watchmen

I genuinely do not have the mental distance to be able to tell if that was a good film or not. The comic is too big an influence on me. It was a pretty decent adaptation, even though Zach Synder does this thing with slo-mo and close ups that makes sex and violence more graphic and I really hate it. Seriously, if you cut that shit out you could have fit the corner people in. Someone earlier was saying there was too much blood before the climax and too little blood during and I totally agree.

So we had a bit of alcohol before seeing it. We would have had some more during the film only the checkout lady decided I didn't look 18 and would let me buy anything. I'm twenty fucking five, lady! I think the entire audience hated us because we burst out laughing whenever there was a mysterious hobo in the back of the shot, and basically every single time Jeffrey Dean Morgan was on sceen. Seriously, it must have been fucking distracting. Eventually they all joined in, just in time. You guys lied to me! The sex scene is a work of comic genius! I fucking cried laughing. I will never again be able to listen to Hallelujah without laughing.

INORITE.

There rly are no words for it. It was worth the admission alone.

I think you need to go read John C. Wright's review of the film. (http://johncwright.livejournal.com/231678.html)

Oh no, not copious fornication!

The Question is a perfectly remorseless because perfectly just character. Moore decided to portray him as a nutbag.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. I rly don't need to add anything there.

I will admit there were a couple of times I went 'Jesus, that line is cheesy... wait, that's from the comic!'

It does all speak for itself, doesn't it?

[identity profile] lots42.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
??? Um, The Question did not appear in the movie. Is the reviewer drunk?

Originally, Moore was writing for some Charlton Comics characters (which DC had bought the rights too) until a point where they decided they wanted them usuable afterwards...

So Night Owl is Blue Beetle (and a word without Booster/Beetle is as scary as one with added Nixon), Rorshach you know already and Doc Manhattan is very tenuously related to Captain Atom.

Oh no, I can't see this movie! I love that song too much. :(

[identity profile] shadowkitty.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
This is why you have to see it!

[identity profile] darth-cabal.livejournal.com 2009-03-12 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
If it be your will. :(

If the song is ruined for me, I can blame you instead of myself! This is working out perfectly. :D

All is going according to plan >:)

I love that icon.

I haven't seen it yet but Hallelujah for a sex scene sounds cheesy.

I am still looking forward to it though.

[identity profile] shadowkitty.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It transcends cheesy! The rest of it is pretty good about being serious, though.

I haven't seen Watchmen yet, but this is the frame of mind I wish to be in when I finally go see it. Sadly, I will probably laugh to myself whenever Jeffrey Dean Morgan graces the screen with his talented and handsome presence, much to the confusion of my boyfriend :'(

Alcohol helps!

[identity profile] lots42.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Epic religous music during THAT sex scene? Oh dear lords no.

[identity profile] roz-mcclure.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
IT WAS OBJECTIVELY AMAZING, THE END.

Someday when I'm a real grown-up we'll be able to have RL viewing parties AND sleepover shifts! :D?

I don't think the audience hated you that much, they did join in :D

[identity profile] shadowkitty.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Eventually!

[identity profile] buzzylittleb.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
You're saying too much blood? The girl who thinks Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a date movie?

[identity profile] shadowkitty.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL it was just rather jarring when there really isn't very much blood before the final issue of the comic.
