I love Halloween. It's pretty much my favourite holiday. So of course much effort was put into the costume. It helped that I didn't tell Rob what he was going as. I just started putting the facepaint on him & waited til he closed his eyes before I got creative. Unfortunately he HATES anything near his eyes. That took a hell of a lot of persuasion. He made a very good Crow, in the end ;) I went as Shelly & basically tipped a carton of fake blood over myself. My friend Shaun from junior school came to the party with his new girlfriend.

Aaanyway, the party was ok. Not as good as the ones last year, but alright. They held the apple bobbing contest again, but I'm sure if they had used beer instead Liam would have won!

Then we walked to the Cathedral at 2am. No, this wasn't some drunken scheme, it was... a thing. I'm not sure. A definite thing, though. Out of the fortyish people who went, about five were sober. Hence the confusion. To quote Jenny on the way there

'Father Peter?'

'What?'

'I'm pissed! Hee hee hee!'

(We were watching Austin Powers last night & discovered she had the exact same laugh as Goldmember)

So we sat in the Cathedral for an hour, listening to people snoring. All I could think of was the time a supply teacher in my infant school told us the story about the Devil appearing as a shadow in a church, which is to be honest the scariest thing anyone's ever told me. At this point I was sitting in the Cathedral, thinking of this, & then thinking that I should be feeling scared. Except I wasn't. Weird.

Then when I went home we had a mild panic due to the Delhi bombings (my aunt lives there) so I spent pretty much all Sunday trying to get through on the phone. It turned out eventually that she left the marketplace fifteen minutes before the bomb went off.
