Speaking of things that make me happy

I found the best news story ever on feministing & the BBC

They wear pink saris and go after corrupt officials and boorish men with sticks and axes. The several hundred vigilante women of India's northern Uttar Pradesh state's Banda area proudly call themselves the "gulabi gang" (pink gang), striking fear in the hearts of wrongdoers andearning the grudging respect of officials.

They dress up & fight crime! They're like superheroes!

That is a hundred shades of awesome. It almost makes up for the universal pink junk marketing (and honestly, is it me or are toys getting more sexist?)

Oh, I hate that. Not everything has to be pink! Really, there's very little that has to be pink.

Not even dildos need to be pink.

And I really hate Bratz dolls. At least Barbie had a career (vet, astronaut, dressage rider, teacher...). What do Bratz do? They buy clothes and still manage to look really cheap. The word I was thinking of wasn't really "cheap" btw. It's like they want to be footballer's wives when they grow up. *ugh*

Two years after they gave themselves a name and an attire, the pink women have thrashed men who have abandoned or beaten their wives and unearthed corruption in the distribution of food grains for the poor.

Wow. That makes my day.

I'm so proud of the Motherland right now. Makes up a little for the sad stories I hear about men dousing their daughter-in-laws with acid because the dowry wasn't big enough...

I probably shouldn't make "move to India and join them" my new life goal, should I?
