My music just got more eclectic

I've started listening to hip hop. Blame for this will be apportioned later. You've sort of got to listen to it in a different way than a lot of things I listen to, with far more emphasis on the lyrics than the tune. You can't just let it wash over you, you've got to pay attention.

Why I was trying to explain this to my mum, I have no idea. I certainly wasn't expecting the reply, 'Oh, like Irish music then?'

Uh. I guess? Maybe?

'Can you make me a CD of it, then?'

And that's how my mum spent the evening bopping aroung to NWA, Kanye West & Gym Class Heroes. At least she's not listening to fucking Westlife again. Or singing along to Marilyn Manson.

Also, I find this completely adorable.

Okay...
Download and listen to these:
Camp Lo - Luchini(This is It) (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7B3PW7H2)
Asheru - Mood Swing (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TU70SB3I)
Ghostface Killah - Cherchez LaGhost (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NSXA6RZ9)
Notorious B.I.G - Warning (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BA6IL8O8)

I'm reccing these because they're awesome songs. Don't worry if you don't understand what's going on in the Ghostface song because no one else does either.

Go and download the two Eric B. & Rakim songs. Too many rappers claim Rakim as an influence so you really should know who he is. Then download The Fugees - The Score, A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders, Nas - Illmatic, and Wu Tang - Enter the Wu if you haven't already. They are way too good to miss. Also Grandmaster Flash and Bambaataa as they are very important to hip-hop as a whole.

This took me way too long to type so I'll stop.
