The Sociopath's Guide to Funerals.

I don't get funerals. Or, I don't seem to experience them in the same way as other people. Funerals convince me I really am some kind of sociopath because I find them the funniest fucking thing ever. I think it's genetic. My mum's family can never keep a straight face until the point where they drop dead following the coffin up the church (don't ask).

I always laugh at the worst time. Admittedly I always do everything at the worst time but laughing's a bitch. I can't catch anyone's eye in case I do it. I just keep my head down so if my shoulders start shaking people just assume I'm crying. And if I want to look like I'm crying I just yawn with my eyes open & that makes my eyes water.

If I'm bad my mum is ten times worse. I had to keep kicking her shins to stop her laughing. Between the litany of 'bloody protestants >:( they're doing it wrong' & trying to see where the coffin went when the curtains closed (I had to tell her 'stop that! You won't see any burning!') I have myself almost killed from not laughing.

The alcohol helped a lot :)

I've been to very few funerals but I started laughing at one because for some reason it struck me as hilarious that they played Stevie Wonder.

My mom, on the other hand, got a look inside the casket at an open-casket funeral and passed out. My dad had to carry her to the car.

They played Angels by Robbie Williams. I thought I was going to choke!

I'm used to open casket because I've been to lots of wakes & they basically just stick the body on the kitchen table & you ignore it for the alcohol.
