Rome braces for 'prophet-predicted quake'

Thousands of people are reported to be staying out of Rome for the next few days, over fears the city will be hit by a huge earthquake.

The panic was sparked by rumours that seismologist Raffaele Bendandi, who died in 1979, predicted the city would be devastated by a quake on 11 May.

(also I'm halfway through the last ASOIAF book. I ship Tyrion/Sansa. I am rly sorry about this. I think it's lingering affection from Steerpike/Violet if Violet was less dippy and Steerpike was less evil. And shorter)

I always said I wasn't going to read it until it was done. But here I am after watching a couple of eps of the show, reading the damn thing.

This shit is actually pretty great so far. Who knew? Tell me what/who you like and don't like, people who read it, please.

Some fucker cut the wrong cable while tarmaccing a local road (it wasn't my dad! I swear) so 40,000 people have been without the internet for the past two days. I missed you guys :(

After watching True Blood, I managed to read the first six Sookie Stackhouse books in the past three days. They're really short! And I had nothing to do yesterday. I am so looking forward to season four, if they keep the plots similar. Book four really embraces the crack. Also, book!Eric is even funnier than TV!Eric, and I love TV!Eric.

My weekend

  1. I finally got around to seeing Snakes on a Plane. It was like they made a film just for me! I love the ones where people get eaten.

  2. I didn't know there was an alternate ending to Persuasion and I got all excited to read it. THERE IS NO LETTER IN THIS ONE WHAT THE FUCK JANE AUSTEN >:(

  3. I accidentally headbutted my boyfriend while we were having sex.

Too much Austen

ITV3 are showing all the recent Jane Austen adaptations. I saw Northanger Abbey (my favourite of the books) on Friday night and now my boyfriend keeps calling me Catherine Morland :D: The new version of Pride & Prejudice is on now :DDD

I won nano!

I'm only halfway through the damn plot :(

My mother has decided she wants linux on her laptop but isn't patient enough to let it install. I've had to tell her to get out of the room.

I've started reading Howl's Moving Castle for the millionth time :D:

You've probably seen these before, but what the hell.

Jane Austen's Batman.
"I was very much angered the other day by your asking me to choose who was to live, and who to die. I did not expect such an insult."

"Did not you? And yet it nonetheless occurred. But that is one great difference between us. Chaos always take YOU by surprise, and ME never. What could be more natural than me asking you to compromise your principles, your integrity, your commitment to never varying your facial expression? I could not help seeing that you were about five times as self-righteous as every other man in Gotham City."

A talk by Terry Pratchett on feminism in fantasy.
The fantasy world. in fact, is overdue for a visit from the Equal Opportunities people because, in the fantasy world, magic done by women is usually of poor quality, third-rate, negative stuff, while the wizards are usually cerebral, clever, powerful, and wise. Strangely enough, that's also the case in this world. You don't have to believe in magic to notice that. Wizards get to do a better class of magic, while witches give you warts.

It's really good, by the way. I've come to a very, very disturbing conclusion. Mr. Bennet: I would hit that. Far moreso than Darcy.

I don't even know, you guys.

"List five or more of your fictional crushes, and then list five reasons why it wouldn't work out in real life."

1) The Joker. At some point the nurse outfit would have to come off. And he's the Joker. And it's only fun when I'm the one causing the pain.

2) Rorschach. Honestly, him being dead is the least of the problems here.

3) Pete Wisdom. Hot knives as fingers are an accident waiting to happen.

4) The Master. Again, don't want to be hit.

5) Sylar. Like my head attached, thanks.

I was going to put Ben from Lost, but I couldn't think of a reason why that wouldn't work! Which is sort of worrying.

I guess I have a type DDDDD:

I'm sitting in my pajamas, watching my favourite teenage comfort movie. I've finished reading one surprisingly good book & started another. I just got linked to this. I have an interview for a cool job that ~*~does things for people~*~ I phoned my boyfriend earlier. I'm working on a novel that I've had in my head for years, but has never fully gotten itself down onto paper before. It'll never see the light of day, but it makes me feel better.
Life is pretty good

These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing's users (as of today). As usual, bold what you have read, italicise that you started but couldn't finish, and strike through what you couldn't stand. Add an asterisk* to those you've read more than once. Underline those on your to-read list.
